Hiding In Plain Sight
Assistant Curator: Leslie Grove Gallery, 2023
The artists participating in the group show Hiding in Plain Sight might argue that depth is best achieved by removing details. Each artwork in the show introduces a human figure whose context is enigmatic to the viewer. Perhaps their facial expressions or bodily movements have been abstracted away. Perhaps their setting offers no clues as to where they came from, where they are going. Perhaps some clues contradict others, leaving the viewer with more questions than answers.

The Doll Manifesto
Thesis, 2023
When examining art works of the Surrealist movement, it is impossible to ignore the representations of women and their relationship to the larger cultural and historical context of the era. Amidst the movement's history, three primary female archetypes emerge: The Doll, the Hysteric, and the Femme-Enfant (in which I will associate the real life figure, Nadja—born Léona Camille Ghislaine Delacourt). These archetypes reveal the surrealists' complex and often contradictory attitudes towards women, challenging conventional gender roles and stereotypes all the while reinforcing them.

Archiving Nostalgia
Curator: OCAD U Great Halll, 2023
We invite you to take a journey and explore the bittersweet nature of nostalgia-- the longing for a past that can never be regained, but which continues to shape our present and future.
From portraits that capture the fleeting nature of time, to new media and sculpture installations that use found and archival objects to spark memories and emotion; this exhibition invites you to reflect on the passage of time and the ways in which we can preserve, cherish and transform our memories and experiences.
